My Experiences at the Grace Ranch
Ever since I set my mind to visit the grace ranch in the state of Texas, I prayed feverishly to the Lord to make it become a dream come true if He really wanted me there. The prayer answering God that He is, orchestrated events and made provisions for the journey to become a reality. Thus I set out on Thursday, 5th July 2007 to this ministry’s training center (or boot camp) with a firm word from the Lord not to underrate or undervalue the trip I was about to make. I arrived at the camp shortly before midnight so did not see much of my surroundings till the following morning. The terrain looked rugged, dry and patchy. Though I wasn’t surprised, I knew instantly that I had to believe God to go through it boldly without comparing it to the relatively cooler climate region of the North east that I came from. The Lord helped me out. I had instant adaptation and did not feel the least bothered by the rather tough climate. Since my major purpose for going to the ‘Boot Camp’ was mainly for spiritual reasons rather than physical, I set to work to seek His face and His will for my life. I spent precious times with the man of God, Richard Davis Eutsler in his camper listening to his very insightful expositions of the word of God and related experiences in ministry work. Every question that laid heavily on my mind was answered biblically with precision. The deeper we studied the word the more I realized how I had taken certain simple words in scripture for granted. Yet these small words mattered most. I resolved to study the word of God much more diligently than I used to do so that I wouldn’t miss the true meaning and revelation. The bible studies after dinner each evening were equally very inspiring and illuminating. It appeared as if the man of God never really got tired of teaching the word (or may I say, was never in short supply of the revelation word). Being very hungry for the word and spiritual direction, I really appreciated and thanked God for each session of bible study or exhortation or teaching or preaching. Suffice to say that I had the rare opportunity of recording a musical video clip with Richard and John at the Ranch’s music studio. The song we did was “Give Me Oil in My Heart”. I played the washboard (the only musical instrument I could manage to play somehow), whist John played the big bass guitar and Richard handled the Banjul. We sang together in unity. I think it is beautiful to see. The video can be seen on the ranch’s website as well as the Fishermen-net website. When it was time for me to return to the north east, I knew that I shall return to the Ranch soon, again and again because I did not leave as the same man that came in. I am a transformed man for Jesus. I can’t end this piece without acknowledging the great help Ann Eutsler was to me throughout my entire stay at the ranch. She sought to make sure that I was not discomforted in any way whatsoever. I won’t also forget her very delicious and nourishing meals. Like her husband, I was also mightily blessed whenever we sat together to share the word. Hey! Do you know that I learned to ride a horse for the first time during my stay? It was fun. Very big thanks to Cheryl Eutsler for imparting the skill to me. I know I need to practice more, but I still carry the excitement with me wherever I go. I haven’t forgotten Kent, the theologian from Kentucky, even though we didn’t interact much, I always listened to his contributions or rebuttals during bible studies with interest. John was always writing during bible study times, I wonder how many books he’s written so far because the man of God never runs out of revelation knowledge. God Bless You all!!
